I don't know if I'm going to be absent or not. My dog is one of my best friends and he's developed some lower back and knee problems in the past year or so. In the last few months it's gotten worse. As of today, he can not get up on his own anymore. He's ten but I thought I had more time then this so I'm still a little shocked. If he can't get up again on his own within the next few days, he will have to be put down.
I'm not quite sure how I will react to this to be honest. I'll either be writing a whole lot more then ever or I'll be absent for a while. We'll see. If I'm absent, I'm sure I'll be back within the month or so. Forgive my absence all the same.

With the help of painkillers, he was able to get up on his own once today after multiple tries. I got him on the couch before my sisters and I left for a bit and when we got back he hadn't moved. I noticed he was watching me bring plates out into the kitchen like he was desperate... he hadn't eaten at all today. brought his bowl over and he gobbled it right down... so we're going to have to figure something out. i guess keep him on painkillers and bring his food/water to him and help him up a few times a day so he can go out to pee. just a temporary thing of course. :/
this is going to be one hell of a birthday present.

Well now I'm not going out Tuesday, I'm only going out Wednesday for a 3pm interview, so i'm around if you need me. I know this may not sound right, but also keep in mind about what people say about delaying a dog's life when it reaches this point Keep what's best for him in mind. But do see how it goes for a bit and hope it gets better.

No, I know. I don't want to delay it.
It seems like he's alright at the moment on pain killers. I wouldn't want to have him put down when he seems alright. ultimately, it'll be the vet and my parent's decision when... I have already decided I want to be there for him when though.
We'll see. I'll post when it looks like we'll be putting him down.
