www.twilightus.net/join/It has been brought to my attention that it may be a good idea to move to a proper web hosting ring. This will likely give us more members and it comes with free webspace. This webspace includes a series of webpages and a phb forum. What is the general conscensus. Give your vote!

We just got settled in here :/ I'll move if the site moves but we seem to be settling in.
I have to admit though, glancing over the proposed site doesn't look too bad.

I'm still a newb trying to acclimatize, so I don't know how heavy my vote is, but my opinion is thus. If the administration thinks it's a cleaner template to make the RP simpler to navigate and overall more accessible, go for it. If it's the same thing we've already got with a different coat of paint, don't bother.

depends on how the RPers are there. If they're a much of godmoders or newbs galore, then no. if they're alright then i think it'll be alright. of course, this'll mean that you admin will have more weeding out to do with members. more dead accounts. fewer good RPers, more people trying to make up their own rules, blah blah blah. so far we've been lucky with our members here. granted, most of you are experienced with this. blah.
so if the ring is good then yes. if the ring is sh!t then no.
And since if we do move, this will come up. I think stats should be carried over to the new site. (come on, krysta has put a lot of effort into becoming the strongest player here XD)

Zandra makes an excellent point. If we get a website with some pages AND a forum with amazing players, spiffy. If they're nothing but dumbasses....then what's the point? Too much of a hassle for everyone.

I concur. And I really like this forum's layout, now that I've put so much work into it. D:

So has anyone looked at what would become our neighbors? I checked the KH forum. The average post length was a bit short by our standards. (Usually a little under 1/2 a page per post. Ill check more in there to be sure.) Ill check more after today's exams though.

Honestly, if there was any kind of move, I'd rather see us pool in some money for a domain and host of our own accord. It's cheap and I'm sure people can fork out a dollar via paypal ( ) at the -least.- It's easy to install a phpBB forum like the old site and a front end can be construction with just as much ease. My two cents. Oh, and the site is down. That can suck for the future if that's a constant thing that happens to that particular site. Being independent would come more freedom. With a bit of our own flair, I'm sure we could attract even more people if we gave it the old site look but obviously updated. I can feel on Piper and how she might feel attached to this particular forums but I'm sure there are people who might be willing to contribute to bring the "moved" site up to par!

Sorry I only do free stuff online. I'm in college and already thousands in debt when I come out, and I'm switching majors in the fall (hopefully) which will add another two years probably to me graduating. As much as I would like to donate for a better domain for this, I just joined it. I'm having fun, I know you're a good RP team from what I saw in the original, but I'm not ready to fork out any money to this when I have none to spare to begin with :/ Sorry guys. Beowulf's move proposal is okay with me if it flies with the rest of you and things transfer smoothly. A private domain though I can't contribute more than my posting.

A dollar is different than contributing 20 dollars. ^^; I'm currently in debt from just finishing college myself.
Like I said, only a suggestion. I understand what Beowulf means and I'd support it if it was the the best way to generate membership.

Ive looked through more of the sites that are there, and my final vote for this move is...
Nay!
I checked half of these sites and they are near inactive. Or not nearly as active as we are. A lot of these sites seem to have been dead for months.
Edit: The KH site seems fairly active, however I am still against this as every other site I check has few members, low post counts, and gross inactivity. Edit 2: As I check more sites, World of Felia is also an active site. This site also keeps up a higher quality standard as most posts seem to be near half a page which is much better than some of the other sites.
Posting quality does not meet to the standards we hold in length and in general quality.
I am not sure this is a safe move either.
So again I am against this.

I haven't been able to check it out as I haven't been able to open it... oddly. -_-
So if you say that, then I'd not be for it either.

Considering what Kragt has reported, i am against moving the site to that specific ring.
Running a little with Jay's idea... Freewebs.com? I used them for a bit. They're good. Just make sure all of your images are hosted elsewhere (photobucket or some such) and you'll have plenty of space to make a good real website. Downsides, they ask you to have their icon on your page and the site will be something like sdez.freewebs.com you can ditch the freewebs part if you have the money but it's nothing too bad. Along with the icon bit.. The icon can just be under the affiliates and say "hosted by: icon" and, if somehow we end up having a larger then initially anticipated site, just move a couple links to a separate account (sdezholystrike.freewebs.com). of course, i'm not sure if freewebs would notice something like that. worst comes to worst, just find another free webspace site. :3 I have a boomspeed account i can offer up if needed. should clean it out though... and the site would be zandrasaiquies.boomspeed.com :P but, as an idea.
just putting another two cents out there.
Edit: okay, I lied. I just checked up on my long inactive boomspeed account and apparently back in 07, they ended free accounts.. >.> so that one is closed...
