I am aware of my failings as an admin, but aside from posting everyday and making sure all of the sidequests are looked over and graded correctly, what would help keep people playing?
Are forum RPGs just too outdated to work correctly anymore, or what? Any ideas are appreciated.

Naw I think this can work. It probably was just the timing. Returning SDEZ this time of year may be hard for people who are pursuing schooling is all I can think of. Beginning of summer may have been a better time if any.
I'm thinking I'll find a way to bring Krysta back, but she likely won't be quite the same as before. I've changed a lot and that generally influences my RP and characters.
How are we returning? How far in the future are we from before if we are returning? I'm pretty much just going to use a time lapse to write Krysta an almost clean slate where her past happened, and then she disappeared and got her abilities under control enough to not set herself on fire anymore and such. Anything else that was happening in her life at the time was left behind just so I can start her fresh. I'm not even sure yet if I'm going to have her right back in Silencer's Wind... and I couldn't check to see what I missed there because my old password is too outdated (still had my original password in my messages from Piper and it's not working, so I've just been gone that long).
Loosening up a LITTLE bit on things will bring in people, and will help those of us who have less time to give out of our daily lives to the posts... but just don't go too lax. We don't want this to become a cesspool of 13 year old sonic fans who are barely getting by in their English class...
Don't get me wrong either... I can TOTALLY fit in with that cesspool of 13 year olds if I must but from the short months I had been here, that didn't seem to be what this was all about.

Yeah, originally SDEZ had a very high quality writer base, and was pretty exclusive with who they allowed. I am not exactly sure that was a good thing considering that this was in the hey day of both Sonic fandom and forum RPG popularity, and their user base was still very small. I think the biggest thing will just to be around, and show people that the site is still being posted on, if only occasionally. I know a lot of people who will come back, or contribute to something if it is only just one person posting to himself, albeit they are not the majority most of the time.
I think lessening or even totally removing the inactivity timers will be beneficial. Most of us are bonafide adults now, so it is a little more difficult to maintain a huge level of activity in the first place. I think this is something that even I glossed over when I tried to bring back the days of glory. We are not all 14 and aspiring novelists anymore (well I am... an aspiring novelist I mean... and also possibly 14).
As far as "time-space-blips" I don't think I am going to modify the timeline at all, unless there is a push for it to make room for personal character growth. I think that will be largely based on what people want here. We pretty much yanked the original timelime, with a few changes, when we first tried to bring this beast back. Anyway, more feedback on that note would be helpful.
As far as the summer revival, I have generally experienced the opposite tbh. Summer is when game communities fall off a bit to make room for summer fun. At any rate, I was personally very busy this summer kick-starting a career, and trying not to die from the stress. xD
